The Lifeline Macarthur Book Fair proved very successful. Tony Ross from Serenity Financial Professionals and AMP sponsored the event with a very generous financial donation of  $10,000 making it a “win win” situation for everybody. This will help train some badly needed telephone counsellors.

Telephone Counselling
Course

A great personal development course

Many people are keen to do this practical course because it is an important part of personal development ... in all the years and thousands of people who have carried out this course we have received many thank you letters in appreciation of the personal value of this course.

Next Telephone Counselling course starts July 2009.

Don't delay. Find out more about telephone counselling services on (02) 4645 7200.

Lifeline Macarthur is calling on members of the local community to become part of its life saving course. Last year Lifeline Macarthur’s Volunteer Telephone Counsellors received over 16,000 calls on a wide range of issues.

Lifeline's Telephone Counsellors are people from all walks of life, like you, who have chosen to undergo an intensive and practical Training Program with Lifeline.

Volunteers care about our community and want to give something back.

The training consists of:-
One evening per week (usually Tuesdays) for approximately 20 weeks.
It covers self awareness and basic counselling skills required to become a telephone counsellor.

It includes specific social issues people are dealing with such as grief, mental health, emergencies and suicide.

Then there is an "induction and probation period of 12 months", which includes taking Crisis Calls on 13 11 14 line  You will be rostered on 2 shifts per month, and an overnight shift every 8 weeks.
You will also be provided with ongoing training at no further cost.

Training involves participants getting to know themselves by exploring their own value and belief systems and journaling their pathway of learning into gaining awareness of their own responses and reactions to situations and issues.

It also explores the relevance and importance of the debriefing process for telephone counsellors and gives participants an opportunity for experiential learning through role playing.

Trainees who complete all the phases are accredited as fully trained Telephone Counsellors.
There is ongoing monitoring throughout the course with a final assessment on completion.
