Telephone Counselling Training Course
Lifeline is constantly in need of people to train as telephone counsellors. Have you considered training as a telephone counsellor? The course will help you understand more about yourself, and how to listen to and help other people.
Life certainly doesn’t stand still for our telephone counsellors and all who work at the Counselling Centre. Calls continue to come in on the crisis line as much as ever. Indeed over the past twelve months there has been a significant increase in the number of calls answered. Thanks to our TC’s we are able to answer the calls 24-hours/7 days. However there are calls that we miss. They are the ones that dial the Lifeline number, 13 11 14, but get a ‘busy’ tone because the TC’s are already on a call.
The only way to reduce the number of unsuccessful calls is by having more TC’s on duty for each shift. If you are interested, or know of anyone who may be interested in training as a volunteer telephone counsellor, please encourage them to phone 4645 7200 to inquire. Our courses are run at The Paul Dooner Lifeline Centre, 155 McPherson Rd, Smeaton Grange.
How great it would be to have just one inquiry per day; and if just half of those were to do the training course we would have 180 new TC’s over the next twelve months or so. Maybe a crazy dream but it’s the crazy ideas of
people that make a difference to our world.
And that’s what Lifeline is about…making a difference.
You must be 21 years or older to attend.
